Timeless Wallet at Harmony Day ONE
Hey Fellow Time Travelers,
Aanndd that’s a wrap! The year-end Harmony Day ONE 💙 event was a great reminder for us all to take a pause and reflect on memories made and the challenges faced, and to celebrate the product launches and many accomplishments that defined us in 2021.
We celebrated by giving a sneak peek into the pre-alpha, dogfood release of the Timeless Wallet, made possible through the community’s generous $300M Open Development Grant program.
The wallet is being developed with “you” in mind — to make Web3 more accessible and the experiences safer, simpler, and more social. It is a wallet for all of your Metaverse adventures. We expect to graduate dogfood phase soon and start onboarding alpha testers by mid-January. At launch, those participating in the alpha program will be recognized as “alphas” through a limited, one-of-a-kind, proof-of-participation NFT. We appreciate everyone that has already signed up! 🙏
👀 Timeless Perspective
As the world continues to adopt Web3 and the new economic ideas on how the internet should be architected and how individuals should share in the value creation, it is easy to overlook an adjacent evolution that’s been taking place in support of Web3: digital wallet evolution.
The digital wallet has been going through over a decade-long evolution since the days of Satoshi’s Bitcoin-Qt wallet and it’s easy to mark it as feature complete given the panoply of features available on today’s wallets.
Wallet 1.0: basic wallet functions (send; receive)
Wallet 2.0: wallet extensions led by MetaMask that provide gateway into DeFi products, swaps, staking and NFTs
But as the user demographic continues to get younger and the industry more mature, we believe the way an average Web3 user will expect to interact with the space will change both drastically and rapidly.
Wallet 3.0: social wallet as creative catalyst for all of your Metaverse adventures
We expect the digital engagement will continue to move from passive consumption to active creation, thereby shifting creative power to the users. Consequently, the wallet’s role in facilitating the user experience (UX) shift will be critically important. We believe the wallets that can streamline the UX with features such as frictionless basic wallet operations (e.g., fiat onramp, swap, send/receive) and social functions (e.g., easy NFT minting, cross-chain sharing, voting, in-wallet chat) will be well-positioned to take the leadership role in ushering in the Web3 future.

As we continue to build momentum towards a public release in a mission to make Web3 more accessible and the experiences safer, simpler, and more social, we’ll continue to communicate progress and engage community with any feedback. 🙏

2021 has been another year for the history book — from resiliency of Covid to YOLO Stocks 📈🚀, to the resurrection of Neo and the continued maturation of the blockchain and the Web3 ecosystem, there’s plenty to be grateful for and plenty more to be done.
This year has been a period of strategic evolution, a classic “head in the clouds, feet on the ground” in our mission to make Web3 more accessible and the experience safer, simpler, and more social. We expect to take this up a notch as we bid goodbye to 2021 and welcome in the year of the Tiger.
